Originally from South Africa, Donovan moved to Augusta, GA at the age of 13. With his great love for animals, his soft spot for rescue dogs, and compassion for others, Ashton could not resist. Married in 2015, this dynamic duo continues to strive for the success of this long-time family owned business.
Reception and Marketing Coordinator
Heather is a native of Augusta and worked at Paradise Kennels 2007 as a Kennel Tech. She has had many jobs since and moved from Augusta in 2012. She returned to the area and to Paradise in August 2019. Her position may have changed since the last time she worked here, but her love for the environment and the staff hasn't. She has two 4 legged children of her own, Sadie and Baxter. Anytime that Heather isn't working and the temperature is warm, she is trying to be outside. She loves the adventure of being in the woods and connecting with nature and travels and hikes as much as possible.
This former service member from Washington D.C. has found a home here at Paradise. Julie is hard working, organized, and relatable with her staff. Julie juggles her administrative work and her hands on work here at Paradise, but clearly her favorite part of her job is the hands on with our boarders. She loves the energy and happiness that our guests give her every day. She has 3 dogs of her own, Reggie, Sephora, and Pudgie. She loves to get outdoors and hit the tails. Throw your bags in the back, and she is read for a road trip. We hope to keep this gypsy soul around for a while and maybe one day when she builds her tiny home, it will be here in Augusta.
Elana is our Crazy Cat Lady is the best way possible! She loves caring for all the pets that stay with us but holds a special place for our feline guests. A kitty owner herself, her cat Fish has been with her since 2016. If you have had the pleasure of watching videos on our socials, most likely she was the director. This Augusta girl has become our in-house videographer. Her fun corky personality shines through and you cannot help but smile when watching. She has found her passion working with animals and one day hopes to start a non-profit rescue. If Elana could have one super-power, she would want to talk to animals. Doctor Doolittle’s favorite thing about working with animals is the therapy it gives her connecting with them, giving them love, and receiving theirs.
Meredith is as soft spoken sweetheart. Although she is soft spoken, she has lots of personality. She loves working with animals because they can always make her smile. She isn't only an animal lover, she is also a nature lover and loves being outside doing almost anything. When she isn't at Paradise working, she enjoys spend time with her own furkid Louie the boxer. This drum playing science geek plans to become a marine biologist one day and have her own rehabilitation center for marine mammals. We know she will do great things.
Cheyenna is an Augusta native and CNA who worked taking care of elderly for 6 years before becoming a part of the Paradise team. She enjoys working with animals because they are full of love and bring so much joy, and are the best snugglers. She prefers to hang around the house with her fiancé and her four-legged child Myah the Great Dane when she isn't taking care of the guests here at Paradise. One day she wants to return to school and get a bachelors in criminal justice with a concentration on probation and parole.
Cheyenne aka Chey grew up on a farm in Indiana, but hasn't spent her whole life there. If true military brat fashion she has living multiple places across the country. She is a very busy lady and splits her time between being a full-time student and being a Paradise Kennels staff member. She plans to graduate and continue her education and become a veterinarian and possible zoologist. She can see herself traveling around the world working at different sanctuary. She has always found animals very therapeutic and looks forward to work.
Jenn is our last chance groomer. With her years of experience, nerves of steel, and the patients of a saint she can groom dogs no one else can. She joined the staff at Paradise in 1998 and had the pleasure of perfecting her skills while working under Richard Lord, our founder. Jenn doesn't just have a passion for dogs, she has a love for all animals and has owned a range stretching from horses to reptiles and so much between. In Jenn's spare time you can find her hanging out with her 6 pups, flexing her culinary muscles for her husband, or out in search of the best restaurants in Augusta.

She started working at Paradise in 2002 but has had a deep love for all of God’s creatures her entire life. She currently has dogs and birds but has loved many animals from horses to rabbits. She loves spending time with her pets and getting outside as often as she can to bird watch. With retirement in her not to distance future, she looks forward to the next chapter of her life with excitement and sadness. She will miss all the furry guests at Paradise, but she knows she will always have a passion for animals and they will always be apart of her life.
Jessica is a pleasure to work with. Give her a smile and she will give you a giggle back. She is born and raised here in the Augusta area, and is 1 of 7 children! Almost the baby, she made her entrance at baby number 6. Now a mom herself, in her time away from she enjoys spending time with her baby, and going for walks and bike rides with friends. Jessica also has a 4 legged child at her house named Tobee and aspires to become a groomer one day. This is no surprise since her favorite part about working in the grooming department is the transformation that happens. With her strong work ethic, we are sure that Jessica will make a wonderful groomer one day.
